Preamble
Why we exist
We live in an age of extraordinary technological advancement, where information travels across the world in an instant. Yet amid this abundance of information, we still need thoughtful reflection, meaningful dialogue, and literary imagination for the flourishing of humanity.
We believe that literature is more than artistic expression. It is a means of preserving memory, questioning assumptions, nurturing empathy, celebrating diversity, and imagining better futures.
Recognising the enduring power of words to connect people across languages, cultures, and generations, we establish CHINTON as an independent bilingual literary and cultural platform dedicated to excellence in publishing and public engagement. With this Charter, we affirm the principles that shall guide our work and our community.

Our editorial decisions shall remain free from political, commercial, ideological, religious, racial, and personal influence. Integrity shall remain the foundation of our editorial practice.

We believe that literature flourishes where ideas may be explored openly and responsibly. We welcome diverse perspectives expressed with respect, intellectual rigour, and cultural sensitivity.

আমাদের সূচনা
আমরা এমন এক যুগে বাস করছি, যেখানে প্রযুক্তির অভূতপূর্ব অগ্রগতির ফলে তথ্য মুহূর্তের মধ্যেই বিশ্বের এক প্রান্ত থেকে অন্য প্রান্তে পৌঁছে যায়। কিন্তু তথ্যের এই বিপুল প্রাচুর্যের মধ্যেও গভীর চিন্তা, অর্থবহ সংলাপ এবং সাহিত্যিক কল্পনাশক্তি মানবসভ্যতার বিকাশের জন্য আজও অপরিহার্য।
আমরা বিশ্বাস করি, সাহিত্য কেবল শিল্পের প্রকাশ নয়; এটি স্মৃতি সংরক্ষণের, প্রচলিত ধারণাকে প্রশ্ন করার, সহমর্মিতা লালন করার, বৈচিত্র্যকে উদ্যাপন করার এবং একটি আরও সুন্দর ভবিষ্যৎ কল্পনা করার এক শক্তিশালী মাধ্যম।

চিন্তন-এর লক্ষ্য হলো এমন মৌলিক সাহিত্যকর্মের সন্ধান, প্রকাশ ও প্রসার, যা জনপরিসরের চিন্তাশীল আলোচনাকে সমৃদ্ধ করে এবং মানবজীবনের বহুমাত্রিক অভিজ্ঞতার বৈচিত্র্যকে উদ্যাপন করে।
আমরা এমন একটি উন্মুক্ত ও অন্তর্ভুক্তিমূলক সাহিত্যিক পরিসর গড়ে তুলতে প্রতিশ্রুতিবদ্ধ, যেখানে নবীন ও প্রতিষ্ঠিত লেখকেরা গল্প, কবিতা, প্রবন্ধ, সাহিত্যসমালোচনা, অনুবাদ এবং সাহিত্যিক প্রকাশের অন্যান্য মাধ্যমের মাধ্যমে পারস্পরিক শ্রদ্ধা, সৌহার্দ্য ও সৃজনশীলতার ভিত্তিতে সংলাপে অংশ নিতে পারেন।

আমরা বিশ্বাস করি, কালোত্তীর্ণ সাহিত্য গড়ে ওঠে মৌলিকতা, কল্পনাশক্তি, শিল্পনৈপুণ্য এবং বৌদ্ধিক সততার দৃঢ় ভিত্তির ওপর। জনপ্রিয়তার চেয়ে আমরা গুণগত উৎকর্ষকে অধিক মূল্য দিই।

আমাদের সম্পাদকীয় সিদ্ধান্ত রাজনৈতিক, বাণিজ্যিক, মতাদর্শগত, ধর্মীয়, জাতিগত, বর্ণগত কিংবা ব্যক্তিগত প্রভাবমুক্ত থাকবে। সততা, ন্যায়নিষ্ঠা এবং স্বাধীন বিচারবোধই আমাদের সম্পাদনা দর্শনের মূলভিত্তি।
মতপ্রকাশের স্বাধীনতা
আমরা বিশ্বাস করি, সাহিত্য তখনই বিকশিত হয় যখন ভাবনা ও মতামত মুক্ত, দায়িত্বশীল এবং বিবেকনিষ্ঠভাবে প্রকাশের সুযোগ পায়। পারস্পরিক শ্রদ্ধা, বৌদ্ধিক শৃঙ্খলা এবং সাংস্কৃতিক সংবেদনশীলতার সঙ্গে প্রকাশিত বহুমাত্রিক মত ও দৃষ্টিভঙ্গিকে আমরা স্বাগত জানাই।
অন্তর্ভুক্তিমূলক চর্চা
বয়স, লিঙ্গ, জাতিসত্তা, ভাষা, ধর্ম, জাতীয়তা কিংবা সামাজিক পরিচয় নির্বিশেষে চিন্তন সকল লেখক ও পাঠককে স্বাগত জানায়। আমরা বিশ্বাস করি—সাহিত্য সবার।
ভাষার সেতুবন্ধন
একটি দ্বিভাষিক প্ল্যাটফর্ম হিসেবে চিন্তন অনুবাদকে সংস্কৃতির পারস্পরিক বোঝাপড়া ও মানবিক সংযোগের এক সৃজনশীল মাধ্যম হিসেবে মূল্যায়ন করে। বাংলা ও ইংরেজি ভাষার মধ্যে গভীরতর সাহিত্যিক সংলাপ গড়ে তোলার পাশাপাশি বিশ্বসাহিত্যের সঙ্গে সৃজনশীল আদান-প্রদানকে উৎসাহিত করাই আমাদের প্রত্যয়।
নবীন সাহিত্যকণ্ঠের বিকাশ
আমরা বিশ্বাস করি, প্রতিটি খ্যাতিমান সাহিত্যিক একদিন ছিলেন একজন অচেনা নবীন লেখক। সেই বিশ্বাস থেকেই চিন্তন আগামী প্রজন্মের লেখকদের আবিষ্কার, পরিচর্যা এবং সৃজনশীল বিকাশে প্রতিশ্রুতিবদ্ধ।
জ্ঞান — সবার জন্য এক সামাজিক সম্পদ
আমরা বিশ্বাস করি, সাহিত্য একটি জ্ঞাননির্ভর, মননশীল এবং সহমর্মী সমাজ গঠনে গুরুত্বপূর্ণ ভূমিকা পালন করে। তাই আমাদের কাছে প্রকাশনা কেবল একটি সৃজনশীল উদ্যোগ নয়; এটি একই সঙ্গে একটি সামাজিক ও নাগরিক দায়িত্ব।

চিন্তন অঙ্গীকার করে যে, আমরা—
- সর্বোচ্চ সম্পাদনাগত মান বজায় রাখব।

কেবল একটি অনলাইন সাহিত্যপত্রেই সীমাবদ্ধ নয়
আমরা বই প্রকাশ, অনুবাদ প্রকল্প, শিক্ষা ও প্রশিক্ষণমূলক কর্মসূচি, উন্মুক্ত বক্তৃতা, পডকাস্ট, সাহিত্য উৎসব, ফেলোশিপ, গবেষণা উদ্যোগ এবং সমাজকল্যাণে অবদান রাখে এমন বহুমাত্রিক সৃজনশীল কর্মকাণ্ডের মাধ্যমে একটি প্রাণবন্ত সাহিত্য ও সংস্কৃতি প্রতিষ্ঠানে পরিণত হতে প্রত্যয়ী।

আমরা বিশ্বের সকল লেখক, কবি, অনুবাদক, গবেষক, শিল্পী, শিক্ষক, শিক্ষার্থী, পাঠক এবং সাহিত্যপ্রেমীদের আন্তরিকভাবে আহ্বান জানাই—এসে যুক্ত হোন এমন এক সাহিত্যিক সম্প্রদায় গঠনের অভিযাত্রায়, যার ভিত্তি কৌতূহল, সৃজনশীলতা, উদারতা এবং পারস্পরিক শ্রদ্ধাবোধ।
